Recognizing the need for addressing global environmental concerns, ISO 14001 Environmental requirements were added to the Quality and Environmental Steering Committee’s charter in 2000 to oversee the implementation of the standard and achieve certification.  ISO 14001 certification was awarded to Ultratech in 2001 and certification has since been continuously maintained.  The Quality and Environmental Steering Committee is comprised of executive members from Quality, Marketing, Service, Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, and Corporate Services.  The committee oversees the implementation of the roadmaps for maintaining compliance to Quality and Environmental standards and for achieving established objectives.

In 2008, the role of the committee was further expanded to increase the focus in Environmental Efficiencies and “Green” Program Goals.  Ultratech adopted the Green Program Objective to “Strive to prevent pollution, increase recycling, and make the company more environmentally friendly through the design, manufacture, and support of processes and products that reduce energy consumption, improve power efficiency, reduce overall resource consumption, and enable green applications.”  Under this expanded scope, Ultratech continues to implement programs and activities to enhance our Environmental Management System (EMS) and to better monitor Environmental performance.

In 2010, Ultratech officially opened an advanced manufacturing facility in Singapore.  After an extensive study in the Asia Pacific region, Ultratech selected Singapore for several business reasons, including being conveniently located to Ultratech's served markets.  The company expects more than 60 percent of our business to be located in the Pacific region, and with this new facility in Singapore Ultratech can better serve customers from Thailand to Taiwan.  Ultratech is continuously looking for ways to provide our customers with even better service and more cost-effective and environmental solutions.  The new Singapore facility will enable Ultratech to achieve our commitment to meet our global customers' needs with advanced technology and state-of-the-art manufacturing solutions.  In addition, by locating an Ultratech facility closer to our customers and suppliers, Ultratech expects that the impact to the environment should be further minimized via less travel, reduced shipping, and increased manufacturing efficiencies.
